Widows and Orphans
🕊️ Shattered lives, a mission to rebuild
The massacres perpetrated by the Kamuina Nsapu militia in 2017 left behind a heavy human and social toll, particularly in the Kasai provinces. Among the most tragic consequences is the alarming increase in the number of children left to fend for themselves on the streets, deprived of any family support, having lost their parents in the violence.
But widows are not spared. These women, often young, find themselves without support, without resources, and with the heavy burden of providing for their children in a context of utter despair. They face extreme poverty, social exclusion, and a lack of economic prospects.
🌱 EBaM: a humane and supportive response
Faced with this distress, EBaM is fully committed to caring for orphans and widows, offering them comprehensive support:
- For orphaned children, EBaM provides schooling, housing, psychosocial support and access to healthy food, in order to give them a chance to grow up in dignity.
- For widows, the organization offers agricultural training, material support, and guidance towards economic independence, so that they can rebuild their lives and those of their children.
🎯 An integrated approach for sustainable resilience
EBaM does not simply provide one-off assistance. Its work aims to rebuild a strong social fabric by transforming victims into agents of their own development. By supporting widows and orphans, EBaM helps break the cycle of poverty and marginalization, while also preventing the risk of young people being recruited into armed or criminal groups.
